It doesn't matter if he is quoting Psalm 22, the intent is the same. As a matter of fact, it's more damning. How about the next verse?

>'O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest.'

And it goes on to list a long line of hardships he's enduring while stating he's still true to God. Read that psalm again and consider where he's going with it. He's essentially saying that all through his hardships he's going to remain faithful to God, even though God isn't helping him. So, Jesus saying it on the cross certainly doesn't help your argument. If anything is further points out the division between Jesus and God. He's obviously not talking about himself not helping himself.

tl;dr: Did Jesus finally admit he was a quack before he died?

he's not God, he's the incarnated of word of God.

and he says that because the high priest remains faithful even when God hides his face, like you said, what's wrong with that?

If he was, he would be a hell of a lot less of one than everyone else in history ever was. That is the funny part. If Jesus was just a man, all that shit people talk would actually elevate him anyway well beyond comparison. Simple as that. I believe in him as a man of his cause as much as his divinity. Dude just wanted people to do better in life. He said himself he was not good. Why bother taking shots at him? All it does is prove him right about people. They dont even realize it.

this. him being an everyday joe is part of why he's divine.

I've seen an explanation of this more thematically strong than the usual christobabble which is that God had to experience the world as man in order to reconcile with humanity. So therefore Jesus in order to die as man had to experience everything, including the psychological fear of not knowing.
Though I do not know how common this view is.

Jesus' whole life and death was a massive criticism to what we think God is or what God could be. We thought God was the ideal of physical fitness and strength, yet Jesus was not particularly strong or fit. We thought God was fickle and required elaborate rituals to appease, yet Jesus was compassionate and only required faith. We thought God had to be perfect, yet Jesus became sin.

The criticism of Jesus goes so far as to challenge our very idea of what it means to have a mind because while Jesus' spirit is unified with God, He can still reject Himself, become everything that God is not (sin), and die in an absolutely horrific way. It was truly the greatest moment in history and still remains a mystery even to the people who believe in it.

It all depends on how you interpret the dual nature of Jesus. Some say he's fully human others claim he is fully divine.

Did you miss verse 24 and the rest...?

"For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help. From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly;"

It's an extremely fitting Psalm for the crucifixion. What begins looking like abandonment and defeat is not, but ends in triumph.

Tick tock.

>God this fucking hurts so much, why did I think this was a good idea?
Even if you're God I imagine getting crucified is an uncomfortable experience

>but he's God, he didn't have to feel pain
If he didn't feel pain like a human would then what's the point of incarnating as one in the first place? If he wanted to appear as an angry man in the clouds yelling at people to stop masturbating instead he would've done so

every psalm is about Jesus, not just 22 and 23
