It's the perfect mix of civilized and barbaric. If a group of people are to barbaric they're not gonna have alot of interesting history because there not gonna do much beyond build mud-huts and chuck spears. And on the rare occasion they do something interesting, it won't be written down. Sub-Saharan Africa is probably the best example of this. They don't have much interesting history. Unlike alot of people on this board, I genuinely do think they have some interesting history. But we'd never know unless some white or Arab guy wrote it down. But if your people are too civilized. You're also not gonna have much interesting history. India and Korea are good examples of this. If you're entire elite look down apon things like military pursuits. You're gonna have alot of written records, but there not gonna be about much interesting. You might occasionally produce a military genius (admiral yi) or an interesting literally work (karma sutra). But beyond that, your history's not gonna be all that interesting. You need a balance. I feel like places like Rome and Japan have a really good balance. Every generation produces at least one epic warrior. And they create some of the most beautiful and well organized forts and castles. You can have eras of epic war like the republician civil wars and the sengoku jidai. But also eras of "epic" peace like the pax romanium and the edo period.
>>18064917>But if your people are too civilized>India >Korea
>>18064935When i say India, I'm mostly referring to the elites
>>18064917I don't know much about Asia but I think that's not too far off from European history in general. I think the difference there is mainly cultural. If anything I find your comment fitting for modern Japan, which can be considered an exception in how it blends modernity (what some might consider civilized) and history (what some might consider barbaric).
>>18064917technically also the entirety of western historya lot of brilliant thinkers and innovators and barbaric dirty killers
>>18064917> muh balanceSub-Saharan Africa had Mali and Great Zimbabwe, you ignorant fuck. Their history just wasn't preserved by colonizers.> too civilized = boringKorea fought off Mongols and Japan multiple times, India had empires constantly clashing.> all this weeb cope to feel superiorGo read a book that isn't a manga.
>>18064935India is a highly organised and domesticated civilisation. This is not a good thing.
>>18066369>Mali and Great ZimbabweThese aren't serious civilisations, still too far on the barbaric side like OP said.
>>18066369Korea could only beat Japan on sea. On land, it was all the work of the Chinese.
>>18066404Buddy history isn't confined to the late 16th century. Japan invaded Korea 4 times as a state and 519 times as bandits and then later as an army.
>>18066467And how many times did Korea defeat Japan on land? Not random bandits from Japan, Japan.
