Whats your favorite Catholic related work of art anon? Whats the backstory to it?Mine is pic rel. Saint Anastasius of Persia, also known by his native name Magundat, was a Zoroastrian soldier (born of a magician) in the Sasanian army who later became a convert to Christianity. In 614 CE, King Khosrow's forces captured Jerusalem and seized the relic of the True Cross. Magundat was part of this campaign and was deeply impressed by the relic and the Christians' devotion. This experience prompted him to inquire about the Christian faith. He left the army, was baptized in Jerusalem by Patriarch Modestus, and was given the name Anastasius ("resurrection").
>>18069174Cool history
>>18069365>ugly and obscene >didn’t even happen irl >DUDE IM SO BASED AND REDPILLED
>>18069892>didn’t even happen irlYes it did, many times. What exactly did you think Talmud jew religion was about if not murder, blood sacrifice, and canibalism?
>>18069174I love the backstory to this one. >While John of Damascus was serving as Vizier to caliph Al-Walid I, he was falsely accused of treachery and his hand was cut off. The accusation was, allegedly, made by Byzantine Iconoclast emperor Leo the Isaurian, who was indeed a great opponent of St. John, and friend of Al-Walid I. Upon praying in front of an icon of the Theotokos, his hand was miraculously restored. In thanksgiving, he had a silver replica of his hand fashioned and attached it to the icon..After this, the icon became known as "three-handed" (Tricherousa), because it had three hands (two of the Theotokos plus one more).
>>18069907The greatest thing to have happened in Christianity was a murder and blood sacrifice, and you commit cannibalism every week.
>>18069907Really weird how you can find renaissance occult formulas on how to literally summon the devil yet there’s no primary sources outlining Jewish blood sacrifices to Moloch.
>>18069931 The plan for salvation presumed he would be born and that his flesh would return to the earth before the resurrection of Christ and his ascension to the Father. The jews' involvement was only to damn themselves by murdering Jesus, an innocent.
>>18069932Many such cases.
>>18070032Waiting on those primary sources m8. You can literally buy the Talmud on amazon with all their damning child rape debates therein. It’s not like they’re good at hiding this stuff since apparently every boomer on twitter knows the inner workings of the secret reptilian blood cult.
>>1807006215 jews confessed to the murder of a white Christian boy for their satanic rituals.
>>18070068>under torture
>>18070074Yeah, so? Those evil jews wouldn't admit their devil worship willingly. They could have just confessed, repented, and sought Christ's mercy if they weren't such die-hard devil devotees.
>>18070080So just to be clear >>18069365 isn’t actually any kind of outstanding piece of art, it’s just import for you as an edgelord. Literally just /pol/‘s Piss Christ.
>>18070103It is way better than the so called "jewish art" we've all had to suffer through in recent years.
>>18070164Nigger, it's an horrific image of a naked little boy being tortured by ghouls meant to outrage. It's exactly in the jewish style of demoralizing art. You don't even know what principles you stand for.
>>18070080Jews don't worship satan, that makes no sense within the jewish mythology. They worship satan's creator and master, yahweh, who is their tribal spirit and a pretend-god with delusions of grandeur. It just so happen that yahweh functionally is the actual devil, but three billion yahwists keep running cover for the jews about this.
>>18070180The idolotrous worship of jews is devil worship, silly.
>>18070206What idolotry? Jews worship the biblical god Yahweh.
>>18070206I have never seen jews practice idolatry, but I do agree that worshipping yahweh is essentially devil worship.
>>18070228>>18070257>What idolotry? They worship their devil, idolatry. There is only one true God, and that is the unification of Spirit in Christ which does the will of the Father. Just because the idol of jews is invisible that doesn't mean it isn't idolatry.
>>18070271A schism over whether the messiah came or not isn’t “idolatry”.You don’t know what words mean.
>>18070282I never said that, I said what I said because what I said is correct. The worship of jews is idolatry.
>>18069174me on the left
>>18069174The original "gray eminence", François Leclerc du Tremblay was a friar, wearing the traditional muted colors and simple robes of his order, standing in the shadow of Cardinal Richelieu (in the fine scarlet red dress of his rank) and surrounded by richly dressed courtiers.
>>18070287Your accusation that Jews are idolatrous makes zero sense by any definition of what Abrahamics call idolatry. You might actually be retarded.
>>18070322NTA but Pharisees were effectively idolizing the Law and consequently missing its point.
>>18070322You seem to think that just because your idol is invisible that worship of it is not idolatry. I refer you again to the definition of the one true God >>18070271
>>18070325Idolatry does not mean "strongly favor". You disagreeing with how jews think they ought to be jews is irrelevant.>>18070346>there is no idol>yet it is idolatryyou e-christians would out-pilpul the wisest rabbi in a heartbeat
>>18070406>Idolatry does not mean "strongly favor"No, it means to existentially rely on something besides God Himself. It might be demons, it might be money (both Biblical examples) or it might be the laws, which is the most unfortunate object of idolatry since it is so pure and so hard to tell.
>>18070413>No, it means to existentially rely on something besides God Himself. It is a borrowing from the Greek "εἰδωλολατρία" and means to worship an idol silly. Why can't e-christians own their scripture, let alone read it?
>>18070413> No, it means to existentially rely on something besides God Himself. You mean like Jesus?
>>18070432I gave you two Biblical examples and you gave me "idolatry has to do with idols". Even if you're baiting me, this is rock bottom.>>18070435Since He was fully God, no, I don't mean like Jesus.
>>18070439> Since He was fully God, no, I don't mean like Jesus.Your idolatry has been in debate for 2000 years
>>18070451Now tell me the majority consensus.
>>18070451Worshiping Jesus is also idolatry, and to do so is not the path to salvation he taught.
>>18070439>Words don't mean what words mean otherwise I can't win arguments.
>>18070461Jesus was not made from humans
>>18070458>Jesus outlines a path of ascetic living to connect with God >AH WORSHIP JESUS OR BURN WHEN DIE?! No wonder most of you are niggers. Actual cargo cult.
>>18070549No idea who you're quoting. I gave you examples of what the words mean in practice.
>>18070570>"If you don't eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will have no life in you">Actually just do asceticism (as thousands already do) and you'll be coolie
>>18070572No, you just redefined them, taquiyanigger. Words tend to have established meaning, and "idolatry" literally means to worship idols. No more no less.
>>18070597I redefined idolatry by giving two Biblical examples of its usage. Right... No further questions from my side, thanks.
>what’s art you like? >I HATE KIKES
>>18070556Neither was Heracles, but worshiping either is still idolatry because neither is the one true God. Only upon the resurrection of the body of Christ did the Son ascend to the Father, therefore to worship Jesus would be idolatry.
>>18069365This one triggers the Tribe like no other. LOL! It's funny cuz it's true. They literally kill babies, drink their blood and eat their foreskins. LOL! Deny it......I dare ya ;>)
>>18069174The best of them are the ones without and Jews, Pedos, Wops or Fags in them........in other words, none of them. Ain't it funny how simply excluded these simple, rather obvious criteria eliminates all "sacred" art ever made by the Church....
>>18069174I don't have a favorite as of yet, but I do love looking at all the different iterations of Catholic art to gain a look of how the culture and influence of the artist's environment is shown through the artwork. Seeing things like the clothes and armor in high detail that archeology can't show is why I love these.I'm particularly very curious on this artwork "The Betrothal of the Virgin" (1420-1430) by Robert Campin for a multitude of reasons and I hope somebody here can educate me on it.For one, the priest on the right has swastikas on his robe. Was this a common symbol for Christians at the time or is it meant to represent something in particular? Two, are we able to assign a locality for the fashion or environment in the painting? I'm curious as to the fashion of two individuals on the left: they look Arabic to me. Am I correct in that assumption? I wonder if this painting is influenced from Spain and if this is a potential depiction of Mozarabs or Moriscos.
>>18071189Also I forgot to mention the Psuedo-Kufic on the priest's headwear.
>>18069174>favorite Catholic related work of art
>>18071189Swastikas are unironically deeply ancient European symbols. They were especially common in use by the Greeks and Romans as decorative friezes(i.e. the Greek key), mosaics, it's even on the sash of the sculpture of the Spartan warrior in Sparta. The Church would've simply continued to use it as an innately, endemic, ancient, regal Greco-Roman symbol, no different from an isosceles triangle, or a column. They've never not had it. The symbol itself usually represents "Cycles"/Wheels in the broadest sense, (a) Sun as a specific allegory, where the sun is located at the "crux" of the 2 main lines/center of the diagram. See also the giant golden, solar disc on the priest's tiara, as well. Of course, every church is built on an East-West axis with the alter facing the sunrise, often with stained glass to allow in the Light. The 4 main branches represent the 2 Equinoxes and Solstices, while the 2 "hooks" indicate the Cross-quarter days. You will often see this shown as an 8-spoked wheel in the IE world. The church itself has gothic arches, and the Muslims on the left look more Ottoman/Turkic to my eye, rather than Arabic, per se, but all camel fuckers look alike to me.
>>18071360Thanks for the info anon! Makes me want to see more of this underutilized symbology in art and expression nowadays, without the taboo of course. Here's another artwork I find very interesting as well
>you shall not make graven imagesEnjoy hell!
>>18071871Retard, paintings are painted, not engraved.
>>18071871sounds like a mosaic law. we're not jews anon
>>18071360>>18071189>>18071778Picrel.It is also found very often in non Greco-Roman European cultures.
18069892Stay mad, merch.
>The greatest thing to have happened in Christianity was a murder and blood sacrifice, and you commit cannibalism every week.
>>18072351Why do you have a picture of infant fellatio saved on your hard drive?
>Why do you have a picture of infant fellatio saved on your hard drive?
>>18071778This famously depicts when Jesus "gave up the ghost" and the Sun darkened......When the Son died. The Sun died. The Son is the Sun. (Jesus is one of many IE Solar King archetypes. Mithras for the masses)There are also more historically correct "crosses" in the shape of a "T"(Tau). We're not exactly sure how the did it, but keeping the post i the ground and having prisoners carry the "crossbar" then putting it on the pre-sunked post just makes a lot more sense, especially in a place where wood is scared. The original Greek uses "stavros"(staff)(post), as well, and makes more sense thematically when you place Christ in the role of the Nehushtan, the bronze serpent Moses lifted up on a "staff" to heal the People. "Be ye wise as a serpent...."
>>18072422Yeah that's clearly the real crime here
>Catholic artI was always partial to this gem.
>>18071109Jesus is as real as HeraclesThe Exodus is as real as Marduk's battle with Tiamat>idolatry I wonder how this differs from the worship of saints or angels
>>18074220>Jesus is as real as HeraclesOnly one of them has jew authors dobeit, and it's not the swole lion-killer guy with a foreskin.
>>18069174Michelangelo's "Pieta" really is amazing. Not bad for a self-confessed ugly, gay-wad WOP. Very Italian.
