What went wrong with modern architecture? Why is it so shit?

Even the contemporaries were 100% aware that Art Deco was rich people flaunting their wealth.

It's like building golden shitters at a monumental scale.

There's nothing wrong with modern architecture, people just realize literal blocks are easier to design and nobody gives a fuck about the exterior after 5 seconds.

That's what it all comes down to. Who's going to pay for it? The Chrysler Building was financed by Walter Chrysler, the automobile executive.

I think part of it is just a selection bias regarding old stuff. I am not saying a lot of modern archiecture is great asethically, but there is plently of ugly and poorly constructed things in the past that we just have not preserved because of the afformentioned ugilness or bad quality of them.

Feel free to tell me to kms, but I don't exactly hate architecture like the one in the picture. It's a problem if an entire city was full of it, but if I drove past a building shaped like that, I'd think "oh, cool", because it does look very interesting and unique, as far as buildings go. I don't think "modern architecture" in that style is necessarily a bad thing when it's done sparingly or for a good reason.

The Ancient Greeks would enjoy brutalist architecture.
