It was a blessing from God because the Anglo-Saxon nation cried out for God's word 400 years ago. There is no Spanish equivalent, for example, because beaners don't care what the Bible teaches. There have been attempts in the same manner that there were good attempts prior to the final product of the King James, but it's impossible to put together such a work when just one Mexican is working on it.

>>18070070People whose faith is 100% centered on the Bible are uncomfortable with the fact that they can't read the real Bible. So they convince themselves that one English translation is just as real as the real Bible and use that. Same thing with the Catholic Church which declared the Latin Vulgate infallible tbqh.
it is the only genuine version of the bible in englishan alternative is to learn greek, latin and aramaic and study the earliest sources for yourself, but god created different languages for a reasonGenesis 111 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

>>18071915Sounds retarded. Repent and believe in the Latin Vulgate and all its derivatives.
>anything other than the actual original aramaic Enjoy burning!
>>18071915There are decent TR-based translations in most major languages that I am aware of. I wouldn't quite rank these translation with the KJV in terms of sheer accuracy and amount of work put into making a technically accurate and high quality translation, especially when you factor in all the revisions it went through before arriving at the form it is today. Lots of proofreading and checking for consistency by different scholars. I'm not aware of another translation that had quite as much work put into it, since the KJV had at least 47 bible scholars assigned to the project. Most other Bible translations, including the earlier English ones, are the work of far fewer people. Some of the Geneva translations (like the French Geneva Bible, later edited by Beza and even later Louis Segond) come close. The 1611 KJV itself also took a lot of inspiration from the English Geneva Bible of 1560. In a lot of places it's basically the same in the main text. Although the 1560 translation was good, based on my comparisons I would still say that the 1611 translation shows that it had even more work put into it than the 1560 English Geneva Bible did. There are a few places in the New Testament where the textual criticism of 1611 was more accurate as well, such as including the second half of 1 John 2:23.
>>18071977But we don't have Jesus's words in Aramaic, only what some people wrote down in Greek years later.
Because Americans are mentally ill. The average American Protestant idiot is so uneducated and propagandized with exceptionalism bullshit that they believe "the Bible" (they don't know about deuterocanonicals or apocrypha) was written in English, or Hebrew. They don't know the gospels were originally in Greek.

>>18071982Have fun burning.
>>18072349Not an argument.

>>18070070KJV is the best version because it preserves the English language at it's most interesting and refined state. If you want to "learn English", you have to know the English of the KJV/Shakespeare. Any English before that, seems too "German" and difficult to read easily for Normies. Anything after that sounds derivative and invariably references, or quotes KJV and Shakespeare. In terms of it's word-for-word accuracy to the original Greek......it's meh(B-/C). There Greek was OK, but not as good as ours today and their """Hebrew""" was virtually non-existent and no Gringo in Europe was fluent in any way, so all of those bits were a bit of a guess. Even the Jews of the day had pretty sketchy Hebrew and factual, historical info about the Levant. The authors also had to turn it into Royal Propaganda to please a Protestant King, etc......Considering they did all of that by committee while making it quite poetic and a pleasure to read, and it becomes more impressive than it being a simple historical document.I forget the name of it, but there was an accompanying document submitted with the first KJV saying that they knew that it was an imperfect translation, but that they did the best they could with what they had and that future authors should be willing and open to corrections and edits......so, of course no one has touched it ever since. Normies couldn't read anyway, so it was written for the clergy, who obviously took to it. The rhythm and rhyme of it, makes it easy to memorize and to preach a loud to the masses, which is how 98% got their Bible. No matter where you go in the world today, when people say "The Bible(tm)", they mean KJV. Even if you despise Christianity to its core, and you should, you MUST know the KJV to be considered educated.

Just get a copy of RSVCE, RSV2CE, or the Challoner Dhouy Rheims since that's like 99 percent KJV after he was done 'fixing' it. It's got the KJ books and the language is mostly the same, excepting that it comes from the original texts rather than the Vulgate. And with modern wording instead of thee/thou in 2ce. DR is quite poetic and edifying in the original pre Challoner though I've not read it cover to cover.Nsrvce is proooobably actual heresy tho.
>>18075024Nrsvce is not heresy, it doesn't remove any condemnations of any behavior, it just broadens the categories
>>18075029Eh. The ddf thinks it's defective and had to redo the entire lectionary. There's no corrected edition, it's not permissible for use. I'm going to assume it's polite heresy. I do have a copy, and while I enjoy the brief introductions to the books and the maps I'll stick to the others.
>>18070070I was looking this up and found out about the Wicked Bible which sounds badass but it was just an ordinary version of the KJV where they forgot to print "not" in "Thou shalt not commit adultery". This is a very obvious error and was corrected almost immediately but it makes you wonder what other printing errors might have made it into the final versions that weren't obvious, went unnoticed and became accepted "truth". I don't hate the KJV but it's honestly overrated, you should read multiple translations and compare them rather than just blindly trusting one in the first place. If you want the unaltered original text you'll have to learn Hebrew and ancient Greek anyway.
>>18072568>No matter where you go in the world today, when people say "The Bible(tm)", they mean KJV.I'm pretty sure that's specific to the English-speaking world. In Greece, for example, when they say "The Bible" they mean the Septuagint and the original Greek New Testament.
