What was it like to have autism before it became widely understood?
>>18077177It's just brain damage. It's lack of vitamin D and other nutrients. Past societies didn't have autism because it was impossible to eat food that shitty and survive. Goyslop has extremely low vitamin content while still having enough organic content to keep you alive and this is why autism became possible. Early stage autism was always a trait of Jews and in the past autists worked as scribes or just schizos who were respected in their capacity. When autism became institutionalized and the severe cases weren't just killed and abandoned as infants, then it was handled within the same bureaucracy it is today. When the systems that handle to autism fail usually the entire society has also failed and goyslop stops being made, hence the problem negates itself as those people don't survive to adulthood.
>>18077177Probably a lot better since there wasn't a label for it. Now a guy who would've been called a "quiet eccentric" is suddenly an "autist" who, by that description alone, nobody has to give a second thought to.
>>18077177a few options>become a monk>channel that autism into something practical so that people have to tolerate you>live in a poorhouse with other retards>get locked up in the basement all day if your family had money and didn't want you embarrassing them
>>18077177Depends how severe it is. Either you were viewed as an eccentric weirdo incapable of socializing or you were locked away by your parents or given to foster care for being a mute/nonverbal invalid
>>18077177The second it became a tiktok trend and a cute little personality quirk, our collective suffering was ERASED.Back in the day you were just a weird kid. Now you're either a faker for clout or you get thrown into the current year therapy-grinder that pathologizes every single human behavior. We lost the ability to just EXIST without being a label or a diagnosis. It's so fucking over.
>>18077189Maybe the old labels were right and you aren't actually autistic?
>>18077177For the high functioning autists: probably some kind of inventor, mathematician, engineer, alchemist, philosopher/theologian, or artist/musical composer. Later in history, some kind of super specialized natural scientist like someone who hyperfocuses on the taxonomy of beetles or berry shrubs.
>>18078551Depends. Are you able to pick up on social cues?
>>18077177In the old days as long as you did your job, didn't preach any blasphemy or heresy, and didn't commit any sexual sins. Nobody cared if you were "mentally ill" or judged you for it. Mental illness didn't exist as a concept. It was called being human. A great deal of discrimination against people who are perceived to be mentally ill is a result of the Industrial Revolution, capitalism, and the creation of the "extrovert ideal". If you were a dimwit it was considered just another trait like having red hair or being tall and not a "medical" issue.
>>18077177autism isn't real
