Invading the east, particularly Ukraine, was a staple of German foreign policy before Bolshevism and still is after it. True, they now don't want to "invade", but they want Ukraine to be favorable to them and join the EU so they have market access. I think this is best shown in the fact the upper-class people who tried to assassinate Hitler didn't do it because they disagreed with him, but thought if Hitler was out the way the UK would agree to join their war against Russia.I think what Hitler did was add "middle class psychosis" into the mix. Psychosis in the sense Hitler took the ideology the German ruling class espoused completely literally while they wouldn't. The Junkers might use anti-semitism as a scapegoat in public, but they knew privately not to take it too far. They used Freikorps to fight the left, but would never dream of giving these fucked up thugs any actual power. Sure they might say that Germany is the greatest most powerful nation with the best soldiers ever like all nations do, but privately they would evaluate things with a bit more caution.Hitler, being a middle class person though took their propaganda seriously and literally.
