What are some moments in history where the winner of a conflict ended up losing anyways?

UK in WW2
France too I guess but you can hardly consider the French winners in that particular conflict.

Literally every war ever, killing half of both countries able bodied men has never served anyone. Look at the west now, manhood being sacrificed on the altar of co-dependency.

End of the Cold War and the collapse of the Eastern bloc basically made Western countries mask drop and become extremely arrogant and haughty which has allowed a return to the gilded age and the West to become completely dysfunctional in terms of Governance since there is no "threat" to the Capitalist elite from just controlling all levers of governance now for themselves.
It will take 20-30 years, but I will make a bet that the West entire West will basically be 1990s Eastern Europe tier around mid century while China will be be the premier Developed power.

You people have been saying the west will collapse in 20-30 years since the end of world War 2

At the top of my head:
Peloponnesian war between Sparta abd Athens enabled Macedonia to conquer both.
War between Byzantine and Sassanid empire exhausting each others a century long war enabled the backwards united tribal Arabs to come between and defeat both and become the caliphate.
Thirty years war between Habsburg Austria/Spain and protestants enabled France to become a hegemony.
WW1 between Austria, Germany and Russia where all 3 became the major losers or the war while Japan and USA gets a huge advantage.

It's honestly the norm that a third party becomes the greatest winner of a long and destructive war.
Most wars are started under the premise that they will be quick and relatively painless (both world wars started under this premise), but once it becomes clear that it's going to become long and hard, neither side still refuses to back down.

Would you say the US didn't profit from winning WW2?
I'm positive the UK de facto lost the war, as >>18099224 said, but the US?

Biggest pyrrhic victory in history that I can think of is the eternal conflict between Rome and Persia. They both wore each other down so much that whoever "won" between them didn't matter when Muhammad conquered Persia and the Turks later conquered Anatolia. Turkey and Iran now have little to show for all those battles over the same mountains and rivers that defined their early histories and as a result are both second rate powers at best.

They designated themselves (and in the eyes of other countries) as the world police. This increased their power on a global scale, correct, but now is being used as a moral bludgeon to loot the treasury by those who keep voting to destroy america.
>>
>>18099227
most wars didn't do that

Russo Japanese war was huge for japan.
