In short, Christians can certainly appropriate pagan heaven and hell for themselves, but people knew about this before them (after all, heroes, civilizers, observers, and gods revealed the nature of the world to them, albeit veiled, because that was the intention). They sometimes had complex concepts with levels of heaven, hell, and so on.

Btw Jews didn't even have a normal concept of life after death.
