Empty- handed I entered the world
Barefoot I leave it.
My coming, my going-
Two simple happenings
That got entangled

Hard drugs and hookers

I had a NDE and realized you don't really experience death, you just die. So it's not so scary anymore. You just stop.
>>
>>18102960
It's not a big deal what's there to cope about lol
>>
>>18102960
why deal with it? If death is inevitable and a big deal, that makes you and your life important. Are you advocating for Juggernaut worship?
>>
>>18102960
when you point a finger at another, three fingers are pointed back at you
Once you understand this you will know the answer
>>
>>18102971
that's the part I'm scared of THOUGH
>>
>>18102989
there's a known answer, exposure therapy and demystification. Just become a coroner or trauma clean-up guy. If you're looking for a way to value life without valuing death, it doesn't exist.
>>
>>18102989
It just is how it is. Reality is disappointing. It's like everything else. Enjoy what you have when you have it. Plus dead people don't have problems. So no reason to care.
>>
>>18102960
I don't think that I should cope with it. It's a pretty rational fear even purely on existential level. That's why I'll never create another life.
>>
I picture myself as an old man. If I predict the future where I don't age, that means I die.

I also remember that the future is effectively an infinite distance away because I can't force it to happen without offing myself. 20 years, 50 years, it's all an eternity away right now. Animals without long-term planning have none of this existential dread and it rarely comes back to bite them, I'm not going to be inferior to a bird or rat.

Human mortals are the property of higher beings. I will return to God and be judged accordingly.

>>18102960
Death is a "later" thing

the matter that i'm made of was something else before it was me
and it will be something else again after it's me
why should i expect that it'll never be me again after that?
>>
I already want to die anyways.
>>
>>18104032
what's so great about it that you don't want to lose? or is it more brute instinct than rationality?
>>
>>18102960
honestly, I don't care

buddhism

by knowing that I have already been dead and it wasn't that bad.
>>

Looking forward to getting off this shitty ride
>>
>>18104062
propably more instinct, I'm just afraid of not existing and I know that I won't feel anything so it doesn't really matter but I can't really turn that feeling off
>>
>>18104114
not very rational at all then. Maybe you should cope better. You're no different than a breeder with your animal feelings.
>>
>>18102960
I don’t cope, unless you consider ignoring it a cope. I have a very powerful imagination and would like to live for longer for that purpose alone.

I want to die eventually, but not until I experience centuries. Perhaps 3000 years at absolute maximum. I want to be like an old wizard from once of the races in Elder Scrolls that lives for hundreds of years
>>
>>18104174
Yeah that's why I'm asking for ways to cope, numbnuts
>>
>>18104187
retarded faggot. If you aren't this person then don't butt in.

>>
>>18104194
I wasn't the initial message but everything after that, retard. You know that more than person replies to you in a thread, right?
>>
>>18104196
why would you reply considering you don't think death is a rational fear, it makes no sense from the start
>>
>>18102960
It may have been inevitable in the past, based on the evidence, now it's just still likely with the state of technology. It's about how I cope with the uncertainty. Poorly I think.
>>
>>18104197
because you can still be afraid of something even if it isn't rational? That's kind of the crux of it

Death is the cope for life.
The end is the mercy.
>>
>>18102960
Realizing immortality would suck

The evidence suggests we die because the cells in our body stop working
The evidence suggests cells are little machines
Intelligence can fix machines
Artificial intelligence already surpasses humans in some domains
Technology always improves

memento mori.
Contemplating death, preparing for it.
