these borders are fucking awful
>>18103225Correct me if I’m wrong but are they not just military occupation zones and/or zones of influence
>>18103225Why no Dutch occupation zone? They fought at Waterloo after all.
>>18103848The Netherlands were British puppets after Napoleon
>>18103225VGH...BADENIAN ALSACEBAVARIAN...ORLEANAISHESSIAN...WHATEVER THAT SHIT IS
>>18104013VGH… RVSSIAN NORTHERN LOTHARINGIA AND CHAMPAGNE…
>>18103848the Dutch occupation zone was Belgium and they got to keep it (at least until they rebelled 15 years later)
>>18104013Hesso-Württemburger Sancerre, I think
>>18104015I just wanted to ask what is that weird belt Russians got>>18104026was it pre-1789 province ?
>>18104028>I just wanted to ask what is that weird belt Russians gotYeah, the borders make absolutely no sense. It isn’t split by provinces or geographic features. The only geographic feature I can identify is the river in Normandy that splits the British and Prussian Zones, other than that, Baden and Saxony are both occupying Alsace. The map is so strange, in fact, thats the first time I saw it many years ago, I’d just assumed it was a really strange, low-quality alternate history map, or the lazies map you’ve ever seen. Turns out it’s not. However, I did come across a better version that has rivers overlaid on it, which helps shed some light on the shape of the occupation zones. The Russian zone is still utterly retarded, but the rest begins to make more sense when you see the Loire river and others. See the pic I attached here.
>>18104060Seems like Great Powers divided the territory between them and then allocated its parts to smaller countries both as reward and to help them with occupation duties
>>18104076Yeah, I absolutely despise the Russian and Prussian borders though
>>18103225why does it correspond to the genetic map of Francewhat happened?
>>18104105Loire River and Massifs happened
>>18104089I believe it's just whatever portions of France their armies managed to reach before the armistice/surrender was reached
>>18104105No it doesn't.Stop hallucinating
>>18104028tzar had to show he was strong to internal powers in a way his western contemporaries found confusing. It's why he'd proclaim eternal friendship to Napoleon at one point only to declare war on him later. His section was probably just the easiest area to give him and ensure his troops wouldn't be too much trouble to the rest of the coalition.
>>18103225Ceding those areas permanently would have been a more just punishment than the slap on the wrist they actually got.
>>18103225sadly they didn't continue the occupation to this day.
>>18104060I mean, it just looks like the occupation was divided by were they were at the end of the campaign. The Russian area just looks like it follows the line of advance from Frankfurt
>>18103225The right borders
