You have to first understand that there is no "eye" to begin with. The absolute Godhead is beyond all creation, beyond and sensation and experience. In Christian mysticism, seeing God isn't actually seeing. It's the emptiness of the absolute and we all preexist within and only though creative manifestation to we have any physicality. To "see" God is to be plunged in the nothing that God is, to be in union with it.
