We spend a lot of time arguing over how the US could have won in Vietnam and Afghanistan. But I'm curious...

How could it have won in Somalia? What would have been the consequences of it going into the 21st Century?

Did it lose in Somalia?
I don’t think it lost in Vietnam either.
These weren’t wars they were more like Americans wasting resources playing diplomacy dice. It’s not really a win lose as much as it retarded policy decisions.

We lost in Vietnam because the politicians wouldn't let us push us into North Vietnam, so we could only bomb thatch hut factories that the North Vietnamaese immediately rebuilt.

It's the same reason why North Korea still exists today, because we werent allowed to just microwave the chinese gooks while they were coming down.

No, it's because you were beaten in several offensives.

>because we werent allowed to just microwave the chinese gooks while they were coming down

The Chinese forced you into your biggest retreat in your military history.
