a christian I talked to on discord complained about the fact that in EU4/EU5, you can forcibly convert Christians to paganism, something that's *never ever* worked throughout the MANY times in history it's been attempted. are there any examples of it working in history?

They proved time and time again that they would rather die than abandon their Judaism. If EU let you forcibly convert Jews, now THAT would be unrealistic.

Worked well in post-Roman Brtain, the Anglo-Saxons invaders thoroughly paganized the areas they conquered and it was re-Christianized by influence of missionaries from the mainland Europe.
