The Swastika flag was one of the two national flags of Germany before 1935 though, alongside the imperial black white red tricolour. And the Tel Aviv was a German registered ship who's home port was Hamburg. Also the owner was a German nationalist who had fought in the first world war and won an iron cross, which probably had something to do with it. A number of Jews who saw themselves as German nationals first and Jews second were actually quite supportive of the Nazis during the first year or two.
