In a time travel scenario, is there any chance that you would actually survive?Would you be able to convince some Medieval tradesman to take you in and give you a job? Or would you just end up being a vagrant wearing weird clothes and speaking a strange langauge?
>>18105233Unlike most of the retards on this board, I actually work in a skilled trade. The blueprints I could draw up alone would be enough to fill in the gaps of their engineering knowledge. So yes, I'd be able to at least support myself. It all really hinges on the magical conditions you place on this hypothetical. Most anons wouldn't even be able to make it from point A to point B using the language in another country, let alone another time.
>>18105233I would probably show my wristwatch to various nobles as a curiosity, then promise to make them one in exchange for a large amount of payment. I would just keep going around doing that until I had enough wealth to fuck off to a place like Poland far away from everyone I had scammed and try to open up a workshop where I create black powder and muskets earlier than they should've been. I've made my own black powder before and I own a flintlock musket that I've taken apart many times. I'm sure that given enough time and with enough wealth from scamming I could create an armoury and become rich.
Wouldn't we all unintentionally infect most people with polio and coronavirus? Perhaps a better question is if there's any chance anyone else would survive.

>>18105233Write a bunch of prophetic texts about the future and hide them in some cave somewhere and then give some bogus end of the world date.
>>18105233>Would you be able to convince some Medieval tradesman to take you in and give you a job? This question is obviously nonsensical, unless it is implies that you know the language. The answer is almost always going to be no anyway. Social mobility was almost non existent in the past. If you weren't mentored as a child in whatever trade your father worked in, you'd just end up taking whatever shit job was available. This is a good example of how out of touch retards on this board are when they envision the past as the exact same as the present, but without le things they don't like.>>18105275You'd be just as likely to die from unsanitary conditions and lack of medicine depending on where you went.
>>18105304What jobs would be available? No need to be rude anon!
>>18105275Medieval people wouldn't even notice if a covid or polio outbreak was happening, because the mortality rate is so incredibly low in both diseases that it wouldn't be any worse than just the baseline rate of people dying from random misfortune or bacterial illness.
>>18105331Wouldn't the mortality rate be significantly higher if they only had medieval medicine? They would surely notice all of the people being partially crippled from polio.
>>18105233>be teleported 1000 years in the past>die within days of a strain of influenza my immune system couldn’t possibly have been adapted to
>>18105372People overestimate disease and famine mortality in the past. It pretty much only killed kids under 5 (which could immediate be replaced), the already sickly and people over 40. If you were in the Irish potato famine, you had like a 2% chance of dying if you were aged 18-40. The core population basically never got seriously impacted. As for survival, really depends on if you can take shit with you. If you were just dumped naked in medieval times, you'd have a hard time not being able to speak the language and having zero social support. No matter what technical knowledge you knew, you wouldn't be able to communicate it. You'd be working the most menial slop jobs and just trying to survive for the first year until you get a functional understanding of the language. Honestly you'd have a better chance being dumped in Medieval Southern India or China, as a white person there you'd be more of a curiosity and that increases your chance of being a white elephant they keep around in the manor or palace. Then after I learn the language, I can easily just do basic logic, geometry, cartesian co-ordinates, economics, biological taxonomy, metahistory, etc. I think anyone with a somewhat liberal education could easily become the Indian or Chinese version of Aristotle. Cartesian geometry would be the easiest to communicate right away.

>>18105233time travel isn't real, the past doesn't exist anymore.
>>18105501well imagine it does
>>18105501sure it does, we just don't know how to travel there in the same way a two dimensional being doesn't know how to move up or down
>>18105478true, but any m*dernoid will drop dead with a touch of pox or fever due to total lack of immunity
