The American civil war is cooler than any other rebellion/civil conflict in world history and it's not even close.>Scarcely 80 years after the greatest nation of all time was founded, conceived in liberty and serving as a grand experiment in republican virtue the country is split apart.>Brother against brother, friend against friend, communities split over the fundamental questions and debates set forth with the constitution that are finally being settled in a no-holds-barred total war.>The rest of the world watches intently and takes notes as the upstart young United States singlehandedly pushes military theory forward an entire generation>Possibly the greatest great men in American history are involved, along with scores of writers, poets, painters, early photographers, etc.>Shiloh, Fredericksburg, Cold Harbor, battle above the clouds, Vicksburg, Antietam, Gettysburg, Chancellorsville, Chickamunga, Siege of Petersburg, all kino.>Ends with a complete transformation of the country and sets the stage for the entire rest of American history and American greatness on the world stageNothing else compares, and your country's civil wars are shit in comparison.

>>18107595Collapse of the Han Dynasty into the Three Kingdoms is way cooler and probably more culturally significant to more of the world than the ACW. Even the War of the Roses is way more interesting. I do think one benefit of the ACW is that because it's so well documented, and it's relatively short, the entire conflict is pretty cinema and straightforward. You got literal slaver bad guys trying to form their own evil Empire while the valiant republic shuts them down. Evil bad guys have a brilliant general who mogs the well meaning but incompetent generals until the alcoholic anti-hero wins the day.

The ACW absolutely pales in comparison to the Long English Civil War (1534 to 1688). >muh heckin negroes vs. muh heckin free labor (but my ancestors will insist was always about freeing the heckin' slaves)Gayest civil war ever
I just reread Sam Watkins’ Co. Aytch, regarded as one of the greatest memoirs ever by a private soldier. He was one of the few survivors of a Tennessee Confederate regiment after four years of some of the bloodiest fights in the western theater. No Lost Cause tardery and very little to say about slavery, just sardonic humor, grim battle scenes, and mockery of Braxton Bragg.
>>18107922>mockery of Braxton Bragg.Based
>>18107880It’s a cliche to compare the ACW to the Roundhead vs. Cavalier war but there’s some truth in that—descendants of the Puritans in a moral crusade against cavalier LARPers, though it was mostly Irish, Germans and old stock midwesterners against yeoman rednecks. I’m partial to the ACW because I know a lot about ancestors in the fight and have explored some of the battlefields. Four years of kino savagery, mostly amateurs fighting a new era of industrial warfare but outside of the east, battling in what had been frontier in living memory. Maybe some British intervention would have made it more exciting for you but yall were smart to let the Ameritards fight it out. Southern cotton wasn’t worth it.
>>18107595Civil wars with many different factions and that were truely ideological, like the Spanish Civil War and the Russian Civil War, are infinitely more interesting than your boring 1v1 one-issue civil war.

Turns out, it's actually The Anarchy
>>18107963>It’s a cliche to compare the ACW to the Roundhead vs. Cavalier warA cliche and frankly retarded. The American Revolutionary War is comparable, but not the ACW>descendants of the Puritans in a moral crusade against cavalier LARPersThat's a very ahistorical reading of the ACW. "Descendents of the Puritans" erases the influence of Penn's Quakers, the "Dutch" from various parts of Germany, the actual Dutch that fundamentally shaped NY, etc.>Cavalier larpersThe South by the late 1850's/60's wasn't even remotely Cavalier-esque. The South was more akin to Carribean retards with half their state population being the negroes they lived in perpetual fear of to the utter detriment of their society. >Maybe some British intervention would have made it more exciting for you>for youI'm an american, m8. The ACW is when US history really goes to dogshit.
