There were many much more black candidates to get the land but Mugabe pretty much had to keep his supporter base. To be real with you the entire industry was assfucked regardless of Mugabe doing the land reforms correctly or not. The world shifted to industry and services, climate change and more frequent drought cycles were occurring and agricultural powers like America and Brazil already dominated every possible nice Rhodesia could do.
