During the Informbiro period it was probably more dangerous to be a Stalinist in Yugoslavia than anything else. I think the reality is that the Russian government talks a lot about "sovereignty" but the USSR never afforded that to the Eastern European countries they dominated with their army. The countries in central and Eastern Europe that ended up stuck under Moscow’s boot resented Russian imperialism far more than the economic system Russia imposed. Amusingly, Russian imperialism prevented the sort of market reforms in the Warsaw pact that could have helped ease the Soviet Union out of hardline state controlled economic policies and into something that might have better combated stagnation.>>18112079It isn’t the saving them from genocide thing that bothers them.
