I always think it's dumb when people say ancient people were as smart as normal people. Sure, there were a bunch of very smart historic people that would be smart in todays world, but are you really trying to tell me malnourished ancient manlets who were habitual drunkards who used heavy metals in pipes were on average as smart as modern humans?
>>18112876Yes it's misused when applied to the non-human subspecies. Modern humans also use heavy metal in plumbing.I know this is a low effort mining post so I want to be productive and instead mention how funny it is to talk about books for 8 year olds from 100 years ago.>Children couldn't read Robin Hood back then because I can't even do it now!Said without even a hint of self-awareness.
>>18112876The modern world is full of people who are not only malnourished but they are also obese at the same time, real fat, dumb and lazy fucks who can't even read at a high school level, do basic arithmetic in their head and if they only have $5 left to their name they buy some booze or a scratch ticket. These people are not smarter than people living 2000 years ago, they might just have more knowledge in specific fields (because they're forced to undergo public education) but they are terrible at applying learned knowledge specifically because they are not smart. On average we're probably a little bit smarter, mostly due to improved nutrition and mandatory schooling, but throughout all of human existence intelligence has existed on a spectrum and 150,000 years ago there was probably a caveman that would have been capable of graduating magna cum laude just like how today there are people that are borderline retarded and hardly get by in a society that has many failsafes for retarded people.
>>18112876>ancient people were as smart as normal peoplethey were smarter
>>18113060>On average we're probably a little bit smarter,
>>18112876>Vitruvius specifically says that you SHOULDN'T use heavy metal pipes for drinking waterNow what?
>>18113618>malnourished >smart>>18113658were romans the only ones who used lead for shit? didn't the bongs use pewter?
>>18114939>>malnourishedyes you are right. modern society are worse feed than ancient one
>>18114939>were romans the only ones who used lead for shit?Is there any particular reason to disregard the notion that rapid limescale build up prevented introduction of lead particles in to drinking water?
too much physical labour and too little food is the recipe for small brained retards.
>>18114956a lot of roman emperors went insane
