For seven years the local daimyo gave the Society of Jesus the right to administrate the city. They had the right to collect taxes, but not the right to punish Japanese people for not paying their taxes. As a result tax payment became voluntary and they collected about half of normal payments. Hideyoshi heard what was happening and put the city under his direct rule, taking in the full payments and giving the Jesuits stipends.

The shipments stuff was an interesting idea, and I respect them for not just releasing AOEII with better graphics + a few extra civs and calling it a true sequel, you can tell they were genuinely trying to make a new and unique game.
But at the end of the day it's not as good as II and never will be

In 1888 Russian Nikolay Ashinov raised funds for a private "spiritual mission" in Abyssinia and took 150 Russians including women and children with him, most of them were under impression that they would found a Orthodox Mission in Ethiopia to provide aid for Christian Africans. Ashinov - who had already tried a colonial venture in Africa once - instead took them to Djibouti, where they settled in an abandoned fort, and Ashinov declared it the New Moscow.
By this point a lot of his companions had already noped out and fled to nearby French settlements, and in around a month a French warship arrived to the fort and told Ashinov to fuck off from the French protectorate. He refused, so the warship shelled the fort, killing six people, after which Ashinov surrendered. New Moscow was abolished after existing unrecognized for under a month, the French had Ashinov and other remaining Russians shipped back to Russia, where Ashinov was arrested and detained in house arrest for three years before the czar pardoned him the next year.

We almost had a puritan colony right off the coast of Florida. It was named after the greek word for freedom (Eleutheria) and was settled by about 70 protestants who came from other parts of the Bahamas as exilees during the English Civil War.
Before their arrival, the Island was empty, because its natives had either been enslaved by the Spaniards or died from exposure to smallpox decades before.
The colony was planned to work as a very liberal place, with freedom of expression and religion, but they faced many supply problems, often relying on fellow puritans from New England and Virginia.
The project died off after protestants were allowed back on the better parts of the Bahamas.
