Why does US democracy attract so much conspiratorial thinking? like no other country thinks their elected officials are controlled by an unelected cabal but to the Americans this is like completely mainstream thought

A lot of countries in the world don’t pretend to be free

They're the only ones actually capable of making that shit up because of many factors, but the fact remains that yes, alot of our leaders are wholefully corrupt and pretty much almost all democracies work around child rape blackmail.
t. portuguese person living in Portugal, witnessed political corruption since the day i was born. Look up "Casa Pia" case and you will see what im talking about, satanism is a very very real thing my guy.

This is widely believed in most countries where the elite was hardcore into Freemasonry in the 19th and 20th centuries. France is a fairly direct parallel to America in this particular regard.

Rubes are desperate to make sense of a complicated world and feel like they know something which no one else does.

Americans have had a democracy the longest so they're more familiar with how it works.

Honorable mention to the Koreans though, at least they managed to expose their cabal in 2016

This and Americans are generally more entitled and ignorant
No other country expects you to worship a crusty 18th century document, they just expect you to respect the guys with guns
The US government functions no differently in practice it just has delusions of grandeur

A lot of countries rightly assume their leaders are just puppets for organized crime.
