What’s even it’s history?
>>
Founded as a safe haven of religious freedom by a BAPTIST.
>>
it's the home of peter griffin
>>
>>18118288
It's full name is actually Rhode Island and Plantations that means Slavery
>>
>>18118295
James Woods is in that show purely because when Seth was starting off in Hollywood and met people who were from New England they'd always come from MA or CT, but never anyone from RI. So he decided if he ever gets his own show he'd let any celeb who was from RI have a recurring role.
I don't think Adam West was from RI tho. He was just a freak
>>
The first state to abolish the use of capital punishment, last execution 1845, first state to abolish it 1851 (not counting Michigan which never had capital punishment to begin with).
>>
>>18118306
Ironic that the one celeb from RI that Seth could find had the exact opposite politics as him.
>>
>>18118288
they called it “rogue island” cause it was often troublesome and did whatever it wanted instead of living up to expectations of other states in the early US.
>Its legislature repeatedly declined to send delegates to the Constitutional Convention of1787 and delayed ratifying the United States Constitution until May1790, making it the last of the original states to join
>It had a reputation for defiant and independent behaviour: smuggling and ignoring trade laws (specifically the British Navigation Acts)
>consistently vetoed acts under the Articles of Confederation and refused amendments

This. So it's demonic and evil.
>>
>>18118288
I remember the founder was so likeable that when the natives and the other settlers would get into fight they would actively avoid fighting in places he was in.
>>
>>18118383
>I remember the founder
Benedict Arnold?
>>
>>18118396
Was he a Credodemon?!?
>>
>>18118378
Demonic and evil perfectly describes the Massachusetts Colony which he called a spiritual whore.

baseball is such a gay sport, I don't want to watch a bunch of men wacking their bats against eachothers balls for hours
>>
>>18118298
Doubly wrong. The full name used to be Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. After a referendum it was voted to be only Rhode Island. The plantations part didnt refer to plantations in the southern sense. Instead, Newport was a massive slave trading port. So ironically the name changed because people were uncomfortable with the connotations that plantations have in regards to slavery, but in fact they should have removed the Island half of the name because that's where most of the slavery happened.

Its a godless hellscape that deserves nothing other than to be consumed by the sea. Learn to swim.

>first state to abolish the use of capital punishment
Fun fact, michigan is the only state to have never had capital punishment. It was prohibited while still a territory.
>>
LIttle tidbit no one mentioned yet, but Michigan state never had capital punishment
>>
>>18118288
My sister went to Brown and it seemed like a nice place when I visited, it's a shame that Providence allowed itself to be gutted by highways though
>>
>>18118298
it was Rhode Island and Providence Plantations but they changed that within the last 5 years.
>>18118288
they basically grabbed that land because it was available then mass migrated to new york and new jersey as soon as the bongs removed the dutch from those states.
Most of New England is either a suburb for NYC or a suburb for Boston or no one lives there and people just go there for vacations
>>
why didn't they make it bigger lol it's so tiny
>>
>>18119164
>Most of New England is either a suburb for NYC or a suburb for Boston or no one lives there and people just go there for vacations
Ah yes, the NYC suburbs of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Nigga, learn to shut the fuck up when you got nothing to say.
>>
>>18121051
Maine is half empty, the populated part is crowded close to Boston.
Vermont doesn't even have a million people in it
Massachusetts is a Boston suburb by definition, western Mass is just hillbilly villages
Rich people absolutely commute from NYC to Connecticut
You are literally wrong on every point
>>
>>18118313
>Capital punishment was revived by the state in 1873, however it was never actually used and was removed from the statute books in the 1980s.[2]
>>
>>18118321
Seth always seemed cool about that. Like when he mocked Rush Limbaugh, but had Rush voice himself
>>
>>18121157
>Rush Limbaugh
Now that's a name worth mentioning on the breakdown of the dumbing down of American politics, culture & society.
>>
>>18121051
holy shit you are a fucking retard. yuros like you need to realize your IQ is like 30 points less than that of an American.
Most of Maine's population is in the south east of the state which is about an hour to boston
Most of new hampsire's pop lives in the south part of the state, 72% of the new hampshire population lives within 50 miles of the border to mass
no one lives in vermont
rhode island is so small it's largest metro area is the boston metro area
and the majority of Connecticut's population lives in the south west of the state, right by the border in the new york metro area

what's it like being a homo?

Roger Williams and other religious dissenters. Some kino battles in King Phillip’s War. Newport was the summer place to be for moguls of the Gilded Age and later had renowned jazz and folk festivals.
>>
>>18119164
>it was Rhode Island and Providence Plantations but they changed that within the last 5 years.
its a shame too, the old name was pure sovl and a remnant of a now bygone age
>>
>In 1956, during a Senate debate over a proposed farm bill, Massachusetts Senator John F. Kennedy asked his Rhode Island counterpart, the ancient Theodore Green, "Senator, do you think the farmers in your state will support this bill?" Green replied "Oh my yes, all two of them."
>>

Whenever New England gets put into just being one state, they should make Providence the capitol, to restore the name to memory.
>>
>>18121112
Rural New England seems comfy as hell desu
>>
>>18121266
>both Providence and the Narragansett initially try to stay out
>Providence gets burnt and the Narragansett get genocided
sad case of both white and native neutrals getting dragged in and absolutely fucked over, worse than the polities on both sides which actually caused the war
then again King Philip's own capital was on Mount Hope
>>
>>18123316
It's not, I've lived there before. You literally have nothing to do besides get drunk or high which is what everyone there does. If you're straight laced you'll be branded as boring and your only choice of women are druggies or single mothers who have kids fathered by druggies. All quality people leave for a reason once they turn 18
>>
>>18118467
Not even the most interesting part of Rhode Island baseball history.
In 1884 the Providence Grays won the first World Series off the pitching of Old Hoss Radbourn, who won 60 games that season.
The Grays also had a chip in 1879, and in football the Providence Steamrollers (1928) were the only New England based team to win an NFL championship in the 20th century.
>>
>>18118288
its history is being a shithole where all the high pollution industry, strip clubs, fireworks, heroin, cheap guns, porn shops, and everything else banned or effectively banned in Massachusetts is located.

Its an embarrassment to the rest of NE and really shouldn't be included as its full of wops with jersey accents anyway.

>>18118476
One of my favorite bands considers it their favorite sport but they're also friends with Kiss so take that as you will.

>>18118313
>>18118647
Considering how Detroit is they should probably reconsider that.
>>
>>18123859
So what you're saying is that Ancaps would love it?
>>
>>18121167
Granted he was my intro to right wing politics when I was a 12 year old in 1994. I probably wouldn't have started reading political philosophy and history if it wasn't for my dad insist that I read him in 6th grade. The only drawback is it made me lose friends really fast, doubly so because I was into punk bands like Minor Threat and The Dead Kennedys. Stuck between two worlds, i guess.

>>18118298
Plantation didn't originally refer to slavery, but the "planting" of English people and society in a foreign land. Hence things like the plantation of Ulster.
