Why did the rich seem richer in the past?
they were white
>>18118736Because they had awful taste in interior design
>>18118736Average intelligence (G) was higher then. So when rich people hired artists, the artists were more intelligent than artists today, which manifests as higher visuospatial IQ and therefore better art.
>Average intelligence (G) was higher then. So when rich people hired artists, the artists were more intelligent than artists today, which manifests as higher visuospatial IQ and therefore better art.You need some balls to say that to aesthetics that are basically bling gangsta rap shit for Gilded Age retards
>>18118736Better taste.
>>18118747Old Richoids were just copying Trad. Elites (Nobility, Theocrats, Warrior-Elites etc) and came up with extremely tacky shit like misunderstanding how Temple style architecture should not be used for private homes or failing to understand the symbolisms behind heraldic beasts.
>>18118736You can still find such displays in Africa or the Middle East.
>>18118759No. That IS my argument, that the retards of yesteryear were more intelligent than the retards of today.
The non-meme answer by the way is that the elites of old invested their personal wealth and attention in decorating the primary residence their dynasty would hold for many generations. This is why modern royal palaces in third world countries are still exquisitely ornate while official residences in western democracies or the mansions of rootless cosmopolitan billionaires are more basic despite the much greater wealth those could draw upon.
>>18118856They also treated their homes as spaces for entertaining guests, as they would often invite people who were interested in investing in their various ventures, so from this context their homes were also an investment in and of itself.
>>18118860The official residences or the private residences of billionaires are also used for that function. In fact it is the main function of the former.
>>18118736Because only the possessions of the ultra rich survived. Billionaire equivalent Kings and Duke's palaces got preserved because they're kings and dukes, while millionaire equivalent merchants mansions got remodelled by their kids or grandchildren until there's nothing left, or torn down completely in the 1960s to build a new block of tenements.
