In Chris Cock's 1988 autobiography "Fireforce" which details his time in the Rhodesian Army in the 1970s he mentions African terrorists setting their AKMs to 1,000 meters because it >made the bullets shoot with more powernow, I'm having a hard time finding a good ballistic drop chart for m43, but from what I can gather shooting at someone at normal combat engagement distances with the 1,000 meters setting would put the bullet somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 yards high from where you were aiming unless the enemy was extremely close. I think even best case scenario it's still like 2 and a half yards high unless you are within 100 yards
Actually wait I think my methodology was flawed. I think this is a better representationhttps://shooterscalculator.com/ballistic-trajectory-chart.php?t=abd01967
