>>18122323This is just a light breakfast, common enough in any variation among industrialized countries before the 20th century. This is how we ate breakfast if at all before the obesity epidemic. Coffee and cigarettes were much more common "breakfasts". Big breakfasts with bacon or steak or lamb, etc and fried or poached eggs, etc was meant to be more of a rare occasion type of thing, a throwback to when you needed a nutrient dense meal for the day's labor. In those times however most peasants ate some kind of gruel and usually nothing else for brekkie.
