Roman gladiators didn't have six packs. They purposefully cultivated belly fat because it protected their otherwise vulnerable bowels from stab wounds. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.
>>18123350Where did you read that? It makes no sense, you would be slower, a sword is not going to be stopped by some belly fat and they can cut you all over the body too, specially artery points that are the most lethal points.
>>18123350I imagine they were scrawny and weak, their owners weren't going to spend extra money to fatten them up or give them healthy food.
That was all ancient /medieval soldiers. They didn’t get as fat as your picture though, they were more bearmode. Think Eddie Hall strongman types>>18123387Body fat does make a difference when it comes to stab wounds. An extra inch of fat can mean the difference between life and death. Being a little chubby also means you can survive for longer if food runs out which was always a danger on campaign.

>>18123693is that really belly fat in your pic? I was under the impression that a strong core will push your belly forward, even if you have little fat there. it's mostly musclethough maybe that's something I subconsciously made up to avoid doing crunches
They were probably only borderline overweight, it would be noticeable but they weren't obese.
Ante Delija is a close approximation of the level of fat judging by paintings and the fact he is a modern "gladiator". Some fat cushions critical tissues underneath like blood vessels, tendons and muscle, however fat has weak connective tissue and tends to slew off, so any more fat has little effect and is just dead weight. A gut protruding due to visceral fat is also a disadvantage for obvious reasons, unless it happens to be due to muscle like this guy's >>18123693 .
>>18123350They also only ate grains.Bloated fucks
>>18123350They were infact mostly vegetarians, which is shoking but true (unlike your bullshit)
