Imagine if Turks while conquering Greece and Anatolia actually cut the tongues of all Greek speakers, so that the language eventually died out, not only in Anatolia, but also in Greece somewhere in the 19th century, so there was never a Greek independence war, and Greek is dead and used only as a liturgical language by the now minority Christian population of some of the ottoman empire's historically Greek areas, who are the only ones who still call themselves Romans-Greeks.After romanticism, nationalism etc a majority muslim state of Turkey has emerged that is about the territory of Greece and Turkey, where almost everyone speaks Turkish within it.Now imagine that because of those movements Turks begun to view Greek history as amazing and started calling themselves Greeks, regardless if they literally killed the Greek language and continue to persecute the only minority that has any ties to Greek-Roman identity. They pushed this so hard that now the whole world believes that Turks are actually Greeks. Pic unrelated, this actually happened and is now Egypt.

>>18123596Your comparison doesn't work as Greek would, and does, survive in Southern Italy. Coptic survives no where. Furthermore, even if the language dies the culture could survive. Greek would probably undergo a revival.
