how did soldiers sleep and clean themselves on the eastern front in WW2?

I read some books and they only ever states one commander slept underneath a tank. And how bad did they all smell?

camping is hard enough in a tent, let alos when people are shooting at you. I want to know more about this.

I have a better question yet. How did surviving German veterans of the Eastern Front clean their conscience and their hands from the brutality of their occupation after the war?

bumping !

did they jerk off in groups or individually

I don't think matters of conscience follow arithmetic, but having the Russians invade, partition, and install a puppet government in half your country and drop the Iron Curtain seems like a step towards balance
