So I do not think the flow chart in your pic follows reality. I think declining fertility has more to do with women needing to work so getting married later in life or not at all. Until they reach 18 you're expected to provide them with everything and then you're supposed to pay for their higher education which isn't cheap and after all that there's still no guarantee they won't end up complete failures and a drain on your budget. Especially with the current state of the economy. Third one is the abundance of entertainment. Yes, it sounds crazy, but back in the day people used to have sex out of boredom, which due to the lack of contraceptives almost always led to pregnancies. Nowadays people would rather go play vidya or manage their social media or do something extremely autistic than actually go and "socialize" with each other. Fourth one, naturally, is the abundance of contraceptives and the abortion option. Fifth one is the lack of social pressure. No one shames anyone anymore for not having kids.
