Finished Panzer Leader a while back and really enjoyed it.

What are some other good WWII war memoirs from high ranking officers from any nation?

ww2 autists should all get deported to mexico

Rokossovskys is fun. Hoth is more technical.

This guy blames way too much on Hitler just like everyone else around him who were able to write a book instead of getting roped.

He was pretty tame compared to Manstein, favorable at times. But only the edited copies are in print.

>Hoth
Is the Star Wars Battle of Hoth a reference to this guy?

More than likely, considering how much the Nazis inspired the empire's aesthetics.

I thought he was pretty fair. I get your point but don't subtract from Hitler's fault in the defeat.

And I even agree that his decision to attack Stalingrad was the favorable one.

Pic related (The Front Line Police: Diary of a Security Officer 1941-1944) never been translated in English. It was written by a Finnish MP officer who was involved in front line policing, bringing mutineers back to fold, spy and deserter catching, field trials and also executions. It was not published until 2010, years after his death. As the book and the war progresses, his tone changes from enthusiasm and jingoism into deep pessimism. He also writes about deserters in particular with sympathy and regret, since he knew many of those men to have been brave and gritty soldiers for years until one day when they just could not deal with war anymore ruined it all.

The war was lost since Barbarossa began. The fault lies in ignoring Paulus' war sims and going for it.

There is nothing that could have been done differently.

I completely agree, there's no realistic way Germany beats the Soviet Union in 1941.

But Hitler at the very least enthusiastically supported Barbarossa and was responsible for ordering the attack in the first place. Debating events beyond Barbarossa are pointless because, as you said, Barbarossa was never going to succeed.

If Germany had simply decided to simply extend terms to Britain and wait for them to accept it may have ended up as a far less destructive war, but that also largely depends on Germany destroying the troops at Dunkirk, which they failed to do.

Plus conflict with the Soviets was inevitable anyway, and anything beyond this is fantasy-level guess work.

It's hilarious because you can be considered a WWII autist if you even know who the belligerents were and when. That's how little most retards care about probably one of the most momentous events in human history.

So virtually all officers of the US military? Great idea, we should invade central and south america. Fuck spics

Are there really Wehraboos in the US military?
>>
>>18135184
I'd imagine they're required to study WW2 field doctrine as part of officer training.

Had a good time with Panzer Commander by Hans von Luck and Bidermann's In Deadly Combat.
