If you actually look into this story, the mob that killed them was multiracial, full of blacks and coloreds as well as whites. One of the leaders of the lynch mob was James Lewis who was a mixed race black advocate. The most high profile person they killed was Joseph Macheca who was a Confederate veteran and rich local Democratic Party megadonor who ran a white supremacist street gang called The Innocents that intimidated blacks and Republicans in New Orleans.
