>well-learned apologist>watching a video of his>claims the Shroud of Turin has a 80% chance of being real (or rather, he says when asked about it "here's what I'll say, [his friends name I Forget] who's studied it said there's about a 80% chance it's the real deal" (or something to that affect)How can he be this astute but believe in a literal medieval scam with an image of a stereotypical white man with long hair, the image that started popping up of Jesu around that time? Surely he knows Jesus would've been a brown Jewish guy and not a Lord of the Rings-tier medieval knight looking dude?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WXZg_OfpF8
I'm 80% sure that wishful thinking is an issue with people of all religions and none. The "shroud" is in all likelihood fake, reminds me of Luther's comment that several cities all claimed to have the same guy's head as a relic or something like that. This eventually led to Protestants eschewing relics since to them they smacked of idolatry.
Reminder: if you are a protestant then the shroud is a piece of cloth worth no more than the jizz rag under your bed.
