Was language created because our ancestors were trying to warn each other about dangerous animals?
>>
>>18222220
How would the evolutionary process for that look like?
>>
>>18222223
Probably millions of years to get a specific word described
>>
>>18222222
>>18222225
It'd be a couple thousand, not a million.

THAT IS WHAT ATHEISTS BELIEVE.

We've actually done a lot of historical experiments for this exact thing on babies/orphans.
To make a long story short: the most immediate, rudimentary, form of humanoid language is simply making noises (screaming, clicking, whistling, grunting, hooting, clapping) and picking up on emotional context or tone, that much can be done with zero culture. The second level is mimicking animal noises or noises presented in nature; onomatopoeia. Other apes don't seem to do this, this is a hominid, possibly even a human specific quality. Humans inherently have a mind that's prone to emulation and catalogue. One of the more 'famous' real world examples of this is the original ancient egyptian name for cat was "mau", literally, they named it after the noise it made.

Shit like that.

We just don't really know. Linguists have considered speculation about the origin of human language as a whole pointless for some time now.
>>
>>18222220
Language evolved from singing, which evolved as a ourtship display, similarly how some primates today still do. That's why successfull pop starts are still considered the epitome of sexy.

You're likely to be right, were they similar to rituals?

>>
>>18224412
dutch is the closest language to english since the anglo-saxon tribes largely came from that region of germania. as a consequence it sounds like english but from a slightly off parallel world where they replace every other letter with something silly

No, that's Scots, followed by Frisian.
