Why do people reject duty and embrace hedonism? Serious question.
>>
why are they so delicious, another question
>>
>>18222854
Because duty to a country/company/society/family that hate you and provide no value besides draining your money and energy until you ungraciously expire is retarded
>>
>>18222857
I recently converted to the strawberry pop tart after getting tired of cookies and cream. It is very refreshing. I can only take so much cream before it gets to be too much
>>
Yes goy, I mean, guy, do you duty for us! Forward march!!!
>>
>>18222865
Duty towards god.
>>
>>18222884
Yes goyim, God! Die for you God! You must fight against Amalek! God commands it! DEATH TO AMALEK!!!!
>>
>>18222858
But muh hecking social contract though
>>
>>18222854
Because it’s easier now to be a hedonist than live up to a sense of duty. Also, society isn’t giving what it should for fulfilling your duty anymore.
>>
>>18222854
It's easier to go downhill than up. Only when you're in a fetid swamp in the valley do you realize that it may be better to hike to the heights, as tough as it may be to get there
>>
Hedonism is fun
>>
>>18222898
I think this is the only interesting take in this thread.
>>
>>18222908
No its very stupid
A fetid swamp is inherently bad for humans, what is inherently bad about hedonism?
>>
>>18222854
Hedonism is a natural state of a human. It is how God made us. Pleasure is good and that's God intended you to do. Suffering is bad and that's God intended you to not do. Anyone who denies the truth of hedonism wants you to suffer and probably a sadistic psychopath.

Raised in a completely different environment. I was raised playing with pet chickens and birds, bullied out of peer groups, corraled by parents, embraced curiosity and science since that's what's left. I became an empathetic person who sees above the human needs and wants to be part of a greater thing like the biosphere, so my morality is completely based in avoiding harm and preserving towards a perfectionist degree what remains.

A LOT of people are raised in neglect, given bare minimum attention, teased and pushed by parents or outright abused, these people become aggresive quickly, they hit their way to a position in a peer group, they aim for hedonism because sensory needs are what they have lacked the most. That's how you end up with a pyramid of golems sustaining only absolute assholes.

At the end of the day, tribalism is the natural state of men, no amount of civilization will change that, and any well intentioned system will always fail unless its organization is designed in a tribalist way from its conception. Aristocratic philosopher king concept was right, and its only flaw is the finity of the king.
>>
if your duty is dumb, boring, pointless, meaningless and no one cares about it after a few years you quickly begin to see the appeal of drinking yourself stupid and gooning until your cock hurts etc.
>>
>>18222884
Doesn't exist.
>>
>>18222854
Because "hedonism" is natural (every animal does what feels good) and "duty" is man made brainwashing.
>>
>>18222942
Go take up fent and get back to us. At the end of it, hedonism is just escalating dopamine seeking behavior because the old ones won't do

I accept your concession on this matter

>implying duty and hedonism are the only two options
Most people just trying to live without being crushed by a system that gives them no real stake or meaning. Duty often means unpaid overtime for a CEO's third yacht. Hedonism is often just basic self-care and enjoying the little time you aren't selling to survive.

Fentanyl is a deadly drug, its a very extreme outlier

Use alcoholics or other safe drug users as an example instead to make an argument (Do you have one?)
>>
Duty to what? To who? Society is run by billionaires for their own benefit, people like me are treated like slaves. I feel loyalty only toward my family and friends, people who have supported me and asked nothing in return, for no other reason than love. I owe nothing to a society run by corrupt degenerates. When criminals rule over you, stealing from the state is a moral imperative.
>>
>>18222884
You mean the Jew god, who's son was a Jew and proclaimed by Jews, and whose followers to this day worship a Jewish scripture?
>>
>>18223387
>Fentanyl is a deadly drug
No, it's a potent drug. It's also extremely useful in valid medical dosages and contexts. Used properly there's nothing dangerous about fentanyl. The issue is that it is trivially easy to make, so the opioid black market is flooded with the stuff. A low level pusher needs to only lay hands on a liter of fentanyl to make more money than he would with several hundred kilos of weed. A liter of fent can keep literally 10,000 junkies high off their asses for months. The dosage is that low for it, because of its extreme potency. And the pushers aren't using precise instruments to measure dosage, and are deliberately overdosing their users. When the margin for error on a drug dealer's scale can result in double the safe dosage of an adult man it's not a wonder people are ODing left and right on the stuff.

Serious answer: Modern economics and culture enables a hedonistic consumerist lifestyle with zero accountability. When the bubble collapses, people will relearn very quickly the values of personal responsibility, planning ahead, and producing more than you consume.
>>
>>18223591
I'll be dead before it collapses so idgaf
>>
>>18223370
>At the end of it, hedonism is just escalating dopamine seeking behavior because the old ones won't do
That's unskilled hedonism. A competent hedonist will minmax his long-term pleasure by avoiding pain and dopamine burnout.
>>
>>18223668
Then we're just entering the realm of epicureanism
>>
>>18223604
You'll be dead WHEN it collapses, retard
>>
>>18223689
I will never care about the collapse or however the white race goes extinct because I will be dead when those things occur. The boomers are right in this respect, if something bad is going to happen but I will be dead before it does then it literally isn't my problem.
>>
>>18222854
Why do people reject their duty toward hedonism and embrace the moral degeneracy of self-betrayal? Why don't they realize that they're sinning against that self and that it's unethical to not minimize one's suffering and maximize one's pleasure?
>>
>>18222854
Like everything else in life, there has to be a reward for effort for people to enact something, duty in itself doesn't grant that.
>>
>>18223768
Duty is it's own reward.

Because "duty" is just a spook that people made up so that they can exploit you.
