>WWII was all trading no one in the war ever saw anything spectacular such as one tank crew getting more than 1 kill
Real life wasn't like a video game where it is made fair for both players. Kang Tigers constantly broke down meaning a risk of losing a tank even with a stunning victory like that.Lighter tanks like the Panzer IV were only marginally less effective yet all their parts were mass produced and stress tested and little details like oil freezing were worked out meaning a lower risk of failure. The tank itself is only half of it, crews with 6 months training, ample supporting vehicles, maintenance, reconnaissance et cetera... competent generals not limited by arbitrary decisions like "not one step back" orders, upgraded optics and radios and the like could make a squadron of Shermans much more effective than even German tanks with superior guns and armor. However the mindset of nazi high command was that they needed a fluke victory, they needed to push the limits of technology to avoid total defeat. They were hoping the King Tigers would turn out to be a wunderwaffen along with jets, rocket planes, rocket missiles, early guided missiles and the like. Everything except gas which Hitler was traumatized by and nuclear weapons where their own nuclear scientists deliberately undermined the project and lied to superiors after their jewish peers had been evicted.
