Why did europeans get the blue eye mutation for less melanin but east asians didn't? They are on the same latitude for the most part.
>>18244585If we stick to purely climatic and environmental factors, the conventional explanation is that blue eyes adapted to dark, forested environments while Asians did not adapt their eyes to darkness for whatever reason. One common hypothesis is the mongoloid phenotype evolved around snow, and sunlight reflecting off snow is very bright. In case you're wondering, blue eyes do in fact see better in the dark.
