>read translated philosophywhy would you anon?at this point you might as well watch a youtube video in english of it. Simply ngmi.
reading is better than youtube
>>18246938people post the same threads over and over again, like on a timer. >time to rev up ole reliable>KEK! baited four anons and it slid off the page within forty eight hours>job well donewhat an insectoid image
>>18246940Fake internet culture is sad to see. Real people post these threads and imagine they are among good company because of praise and inclusion... from bots. Then the bots aren't paid for or the bypass stops working and these anons are left out in the cold, alone. Perhaps wondering what happened.

>>18246938better to read in translation and understand what the philosopher meant than to read the original work and get the wrong meaning of a term based on what it literally means. again, philosophy is the type of writing where "reading in translation" isn't a problem, because prose and writing style aren't essential and the meanings always need to be interpreted anyway

Most philosophers quote translated texts as authorities. You’re free to look at the original if you think a specific word might have a sense the translation didn’t capture. And anyone else is free to challenge your understanding. And you’re free to learn from them if they’re right, argue with them if not, and so on. It’s not really that serious. There are definitely bigger fish to fry as far as philosophy goes that I think worrying about translation unless you know precisely what you’re doing is not a good use of your time. You’re better off just reading as much of it as you can get your hands on, than making up excuses why this or that item of interest is inaccessible, or requires costly study.

>>18246947yes, you read philosophy to understand what philosophers thought, not what the words literally mean according to the dictionary
damn only midwits are left on /lit/ sad to see

>>18246940truth nuke, OP samefagged multiple times trying do psyops haha. see you soon frogposter
>>18246940it has been like this pretty much forever>same threads>same jokes>same frogs and wojak picturesit's all so tiresomethe worst offenders are definitely interest-focused boards like /tv/, /v/, /lit/, /a/ and others because people that watch movies/read books/play video games/watch anime and generally engage with their hobby in any capacity whatsoever are doing just that instead of shitposting and seeking attention/validation from online strangers on a dead dogshit board on which nobody is doing any of those things in the first place>inb4 why are you still here thenI don't know, paradoxically everywhere else is somehow even worse, I'd like to be proven wrong but people don't visit this and other internet shitholes coming from a great life because otherwise you would have gorillions of things to do and shitposting on a dead board on a sunday evening would be at the bottom of the list
