Outside of broad strokes what level of trust do you put in first hand or second hand accounts?

Been seeing white boy essays and weapon larpers just say things they've read uncritically. And talking heads defending cooking a man alive because of colonialism.

Starting to worry their ignoring skepticism for gain.
