do we know how indo-europeans called themselves?or how other people during indo-european times called them?
>>18249177were calling them*
>>18249177This thread again.....Besides white supremacist things, the PIE didn't really have a shared common identity on the Pontic steppe in 4000 BC; in fact, each tribe had its own identity, the closest being "Veneti". A type ethnonym was pretty popular for the Iron Age: Italo-Celtic (and Balto-Slavic and Illyrian). Brittany, Italy, Baltic, Balkans, Britain, and Ireland at least. It makes sense as it means something like "our people".

>>18249305I'm not sure what that or your post are in reference to, but I'm going to go for the low hanging fruit and point out that "Aryan," meaning noble, was also a later endonym for the PIE people that distinguished them from the people whose lands they were "migrating" too i.e. the Iranian or northern Indians. But it should be noted that, as far as I know, all the eastern migration branch stuck to this word. The Western migrating group that we all know, love, and obsess about never used that word.
>yet another thread where people conflate a reconstructed theoretical language family with racial identity
>>18249177>or how other people during indo-european times called them?Whatever 'Enemies', 'Invades', 'Bringers of Doom', 'Demons' or 'Evil Ones' was called in their languages, I imagine.Indo-European speakers weren't nice people. The genetic shift in some areas they entered (e.g. southern Scandinavia) was bigger than the genetic shift colonisation caused in South America, and not far behind in the rest of Europe.
