Tarot cards as something spooky is just silly, they started out as regular playing cards and were just that for centuries. Using them for divination is a 18th century invention based on made up stories on their origin. They were successfully monopolized by fortune tellers only because the French-suited playing cards had won the popularity contents for card games.

as a child i was taught to absolutely be afraid of those things because only Jesus & God himself can do such things. then a handful of years later at a family gathering there was a heated argument. some of my extended family insisted that if you see such things then that's clearly Jesus or God himself as they are the only ones who can do it.
