Why does Tolkien show Orcs killing some random peasants as a bad thing when its literaly peak Master morality?
>>18251295Peak master morality would be them killing one another and not serving another man's will
>>18251295you orcs lack theory of mind, and so are incorrectly categorized as a type of human person
>master morality>for a race that is so buck broken they serve a giga dark lord that displays nothing but contempt for them
Tolikien explicitly rejected that sort of morality in fiction and reality alike and wrote about his distaste for it. You should read the Worm Ouroboros if you want Master morality in fantasy. Its author E.R Eddison knew Tolkien personally and thought that his views too are too "soft" and that Nietzschean supermen and glorification of war in fiction are actually fucking amazing. Tolkien in turn appreciated Eddison's writing and world building but considered his characters and their morals repugnant.
>>18251295Because Tolkien wasn't a Nietzchean. You don't read much, do you?
>>18251295You wouldn't understand.
>>18251295The Orcs never harm civilians in Lord of the Rings, they are mainly delt with in passages that relate more to the fantastical elements of Middle-Earth, rather raping and pillaging is credited to the swarthy lesser men, the Dunlendings and Corsairs.
>>18251457Their atrocities are mentioned in appendices, like how orcs kidnapped Elrond's wife Celebrian and tortured her so horrifically that she had to go to the Undying Lands to mentally get over it.
