Personally I think the best concept for the afterlife is the Celtic one. You die and you get to go to heaven for a bit, and when you get bored of heaven, you can get reincarnated back into your own family line. Its simple, its uplifting, It gives warriors fearlessness and courage, it means that family and society is important since you will be back later, and it neatly explains why kids will sometimes look similar to their ancestors.
