There is a debate ongoing within Muslim circles right now. One side claims it’s fine to ask Jesus for help because he’s not dead. Wahhabi side says it’s shirk because you can’t ask for intercession from dead people.Your thoughts?
>>18252423Islam is cancer that's my thoughts.
>>18252423Seek Christ and make your petition, the one true living God will weigh your need and be your judge.
>>18252423>Wahhabi side says it’s shirk because you can’t ask for intercession from dead people. But didn't you just said that Jesus is not dead according to Islamic doctrine?
The idea of praying to Jesus for *intercession* of all things is extremely confusing if you’re used to the Christian POV, but I’ve seen Shias say it’s fine to do
>>18252530So it's basically treating Jesus like a saint?
>>18252533More or less but sending dua to a wali is a controversial issue as well(tawassul) among Sunni, the practice exists in Sunni communities too but much rarer now.
>>18252423If I am not mistaken the Wahabi argument is that no one but Allah can actually intercede, not that Jesus is dead and thus cannot intercede. You can pray for someone, but that's more of a request.>>18252533That's basically what he is, in Islam. Very important, but he is still just a man. They accept the Virgin birth, for whatever reason.
>>18252533Shia also has that self lashing ritual like Catholic. They probably got it from their Melkite or Maronite ancestors when their ulamas migrated from Levant to Persia.
