So, they depicted the Muslims as the good guys here (all clad in white, and have normal faces instead of deformed faces). Therefore, Europeans knew that they were the bad guys and they were the invaders. No need to glaze the crusaders here now.

Crusaders were always seen as like the dregs of Europe until 2010s memes. They sometimes persuaded a king or high noble to fund and/or lead a crusade like Richard I, Barbarossa or Curthose but it was more like an open invitation to yeet if you were bored or weren't too busy with other stuff.
