It's funny to see leftists decry the Dalai Lama as a CIA tool when he stopped advocating for an independent Tibet in the 70s.
That's 30 years before Tibetan independentism fell out of fashion in the West.
Genuinely a case of a low-information but strong opinion
>>
I think it's fairly well documented that he *was* a CIA tool at the start of his career
Though it seems very possible that he either gave up or they stopped paying him once it became clear Tibetan independence was 1) a lost cause, and 2) not really embarrassing China internationally anymore
He's moderated a lot later in life, China should try to cut a deal to let him retire back home, maybe in exchange for a nominal concession they've basically already given Tibet anyway

When it’s time to pick the new Dalai Lama.

>A man wanting the best for his ancestral land is a CIA tool
Yep, leftists are just genetic dead ends lashing out at everyone and calling it an ideology. Spiteful mutants.

Commies eat up Maoist propaganda

CIA operations in Tibet were ended after US relations with China were restored in the 70s.

I support Donetsk Republic and Palestine but also I support independence for Tibet and Taiwan also. You don’t speak for all leftists
