I am going to take from Gregory of Nyssa hereIslam:>If God is perfect then He is unchanging>Muslims believe that God is the most merciful and most compassionate>If God had no one to express those attributes to prior to creation, then those aspects weren't always innate to God's nature, meaning He isn't perfect. Nicene Christianity: 1>If God is perfect then He is unchanging>Nicene Christians believe that God is perfectly just and perfectly merciful>Even with the different persons of the Godhead, God cannot express those attributes because God doesn't need anyone's mercy and there would be no one to exact justice upon before creation came into being, meaning these attributes are not innate to God's nature and God is no longer perfect2>Nicene Christians believe that God the Father is the ultimate example of a father>If that is true, then the God the Father should want God the Son to be greater and more powerful than He is (Like any good father would) other wise He isn't the ultimate example of a father3>The nature of a father-son relationship is that the father begets the son>If both God the Father and God the Son are coequal and are both uncreated, then there is no father-son relationship to be hadThese are hangups I have with both religions. I will say this though, I have had paranormal experiences with both religions so they both have some truth to them to some extent.
Also I just wanted to add that I'm not an atheist or an agnostic. I believe in the Abrahamic God but I feel as if the books stemming from Him doesn't paint a proper picture of His revealed nature. I think we should assume less about Him but hope for the best.
>>18255415>God the Father should want God the Son to be greater and more powerfulJohn 14:9Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? John 14:10Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.John 10:3030 I and my Father are one
>>18255724This doesn't address that point.
>>18255415>>Nicene Christians believe that God is perfectly just and perfectly mercifulThese are simply aspects of "God always takes the best possible action in every scenario". Justice and mercy are just descriptions of this in situations that include evildoers>If that is true, then the God the Father should want God the Son to be greater and more powerful than He isThat's a logical impossibility and doesn't ultimately make sense. There's no logically possible state that corresponds to this. It's like saying God should want something to be more north than the north pole.>If both God the Father and God the Son are coequal and are both uncreated, then there is no father-son relationship to be hadI agree that Catholics calling the Father and Son coequal is nonsensical.
>>18255415> If God had no one to express those attributes to prior to creation, then those aspects weren't always innate to God's nature, meaning He isn't perfect. This doesn’t follow. Having the attribute of mercy, or being compassionate, exists with or without a subject to receive it.Besides that, God is all knowing and beyond time -which is a limitation that is experienced only by us mortals. Therefore, in all eternity, God had knowledge of you and I, and has been merciful and compassionate towards us before we even existed. Now, repeat after me “ashadu anna illaha ill allah”
>>18255415I recommend you read into Khalil Andani or at least watch his Youtube channel Thinking Islam. In a nutshell God is absolutely simple and works through intermediaries. The "light" of the Prophet was God's first creation and he/his successors represents any attributes mentioned. That's how people historically saw it.
