What's the connection between these guys? I know we have the year of 4 emperors between them, and I know Domitian married a Claudian, but there has to be more.

I thought I read one time that the Flavians have been implicated in plots against the life of Nero. This was a conspiracy that involved Tiberius Julius Alexander, an uber wealthy equestrian who is called "Jew" but he fought against Alexandrian Jews AND Jerusalem Jews (as second in command to Titus).

So, what's going on here? Is the second dynasty an important change of guard?

Dynasties aren't real. Octavian was only Caesar's nephew. Commodus was Marcus Aurelius' blood son and a hedonistic retard.

One interesting connection: Berenice, the late wife of Vespasian, was earlier married to Marcus Julius Alexander, the brother of Tiberius Julius Alexander.

Blood relation doesn't strictly matter. Dynasties are factions.
