Why did these so called barbarians just waltz in so easily through the Roman empire in and around 400AD? Why did they leave their homelands to begin with
Because it never existed and everything before that point and even a ton after is nothing more than elaborate mythmaking by bored monks
>>18257559>Why did these so called barbarians just waltz in so easily through the Roman empire in and around 400AD?Civil war. Constantine III took all the soldiers from Britain and the Rhine Limes to contest Honorius and try to win recognition as a legitimate emperor and this is when the Vandals, Alans, Seubi and Burgundians all invade the empire during the winter. As there was literally no army contesting them they did so with ease and made their way into Spain. It was not until Honorius acknowledged Constantine where some semblance of normality returned, but their party was facing the issue of the Visigoths invading Italy and Constantine would come to help and get himself killed.
>>18257559They arrived as slaves of the Huns. Mus not be forgotten thag the german cavemen were so sodomized by the Turkics that their main god, Odin, is Attila the Hun, who came to replace Thor/Perun as the main deity of their pantheon.
>>18257559Why are you here if you know nothing about history? Didn't you attend school or read anything on the subject before posting?
>>18257559>Overpopulation>Smal ice Age turning North/Central Europe into a even colder shithole>Huns and other flavours of steppeniggers migrating west and thus causing a domino effect
Faustian spirit. Plus Rome has some terrible leaders at that time and the land was basically up for grabs
>>18257559Its misleading, it wasn't huge groups of people moving, it was people coming in and taking control of existing towns.

The huns were really good at making war and so forced everyone to flee them. They didn't just train from birth, they did all sorts of weird body/face deformations intentionally to further isolate themselves from being normal human beings. Even after Attila was gone they were hired out as mercenaries and feared greatly.
They didn't. There were numerous major wars fought against them to try and keep them out. Peace was established with older tribes, who then became allies when new waves of migrants came. These new allies were eventually formalized into the Roman military as Foederati. The Romans armed them, trained them, let them into the Empire to help defend it. As for what was causing it, part of it was the Huns. They drove many of the great migrations in the 5th century.Eventually the Roman government became too corrupt and inept to properly maintain the provinces' defenses and the Foederati were the only thing standing between Roman lands and increasingly desperate Barbarian tribes trying to get in. So the Foederati eventually just stepped aside and let it happen, and then joined them in seizing land for themselves. The Foederati joining the Barbarians is why there was "no resistance", because the Barbarians were already inside the empire for years.
>>18258897The only group allowed into the empire and made foederati were the Visigoths and they immediately tried to destroy them because they didn’t want an independent state in their territory. The Vandals never became foederati, most of the foederati agreements were post hoc face saving agreements where the Romans recognised already conquered land by an enemy they failed to keep out and they received nothing in exchange for it. There was nobody on the inside helping them do this, mostly as foederati did not exist in the West until the Visigoths under Alaric invaded them
