Does /his/ go to museums? What are some of your favorite history exhibits? City slickers aren't necessary. Sometimes a really good one can be found in your backyard.

For me, it's the room full of clockwork automatons in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.

I live in NYC, I go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art or Natural History Museum every couple of weeks. I have a membership to both, they're really excellent.

Oh big city museums. I haven't been to a big city museum in a while though i usually venture out into a museum around the old towns at least once a month.

The Transit Museum in NYC is in an old subway station in Brooklyn and they also have an annex in Grand Central Terminal. There’s permanent and new displays and a fleet of vintage subway cars that they sometimes take out on charter runs, along with tours of MTA facilities.

The last museum I visited was the Tallinn City Museum two years ago. My most memorable museum experience was the German Tank Museum in Munster (pic rel). There is also a local castle which I at least visit once a year - they are currently remodelling their museum and some of the changes I find quite disappointing, as to me it has become more sterile and corporate. Granted the old torture chamber gore exhibition with animatronics probably wasn't too accurate but it had charme (and scared the fuck out of me as a kid). Still, they recently uncovered some 13th century wall paintings hidden behind 19th century wood panels, which they are now restoring. I'm quite thrilled to see the end result.

Considering the way most of you faggots post here it would be almost impossible for you to contain your autistic screeching if you did go to a museum, and saw something even slightly disagreeing with your own headcanon.

I used to spend a lot of time here on my lunch hours when I worked in a park in lower Manhattan. It’s located in the old customs house, an architectural beauty with great murals on the ceilings, and best of all it’s always free. I used to steer tourists there as a refuge from all the lines and crowds around Battery Park and the 9/11 memorial. There’s anthropological exhibits but also contemporary Native American stuff, like a show of skateboard art from the rez.
